English Project - Sports

In groups of 4, you’re going to investigate a sport of your choice (from the list we created at the beginning of unit 5). You’ll write about their origins, their rules, where you play and the equipment you need to practice it.

We’ll distribute the tasks and the time so everybody can contribute to the project. Let’s take a look at the task distribution:

INVESTIGATION TEAM: Students 1 and 2 will investigate about the origins and the rules of the sport.

ARTISTIC TEAM: Students 3 and 4 will describe the equipment you need to practice this sport, the place where you can do it. They will also look for relevant pictures and will organize the distribution of the display.

Final product: a poster (A2 cardboard) with a presentation of the sport, with all the information in it: origins of the sport + rules of the sport + place to practice the sport + necessary equipment + pictures to illustrate it.

Now, let’s see how we are going to organize the time:

Session 1
(in class)

Sport selection.
Task distribution (investigation team + artistic team)
Session 2-3 (computers’ room)
Research sessions.
The investigation team looks for the details to complete their document (document 1) about the origins and the rules of the sport.

The artistic team looks for the details to complete their document (document 2) about the place, the equipment and relevant pictures.
·Complete the rubric.
Sessions 4-5

Design sessions.
The investigation team writes their parts (Student 1: origins. Student 2: rules).
The artistic team writes the information about equipment and places (Student 3) and plans the space of the cardboard (Student 4).
·Complete the rubric.
Sessions 6-7

Evaluation: you will be graded every day, so please pay attention to the teacher’s instructions. You’ll also have a rubric per team (investigation / artistic), which will be a 35% of your final mark.

You'll have copy of the documents you need, but here you are in case you need them:
